Pottermore Wand CHEATS!

This is a new page I’ve made to give you some tips and ways to get around Pottermore, like the combinations to pick if you want a certain wand. I will be updating this and hope it helps!

This first section is a collection of ways to answer the Pottermore Wand Quiz to get the outcome of certain wands. Yes, I did all these quizzes! Scroll through here and see if any of these wands catch your attention. If they do, just answer with the same responses as I list, and voila, that wand is yours. For reference of the quiz questions, visit the Wand Quiz Images Page.

*HINT: If you like the wand but its too short/long, don’t worry! At the beginning, click ‘Tall’ if you want a long wand and ‘Short’ if you want a smaller one, or ‘Average’ if you want one medium length.

  1. hey, thanks for this… but English Oak and Pheonix doesn’t work for me, I’ve ended up getting Yew and Holly unfortunately, any reason why?

    • Hmm. I’m sorry it didn’t work…the same thing happened to me last year, and I tested all of these combinations last year – I think pottermore is trying to keep things like this from happening, trying to keep the wand quiz unpredictable, and I have a pretty good suspicion that they may change some of the combinations every year. All of these findings are purely guess and check, and I literally just made hundreds of accounts and wrote down the different combinations I chose and their outcomes in a notebook. I’m very sorry that this didn’t work. I will look into it more and try to find a solution! -FeatherMoon

  2. I’ve seen that JKR bases some of the wand wood on the character’s birthday ushering a tree calendar thing, if that’s so I should have hazel

  3. I mean using!!stupid auto-correct

  4. does anyone know the combinations for a cherry dragon wand?
i would be gratful if i could get it iv been trying very hard to get it

    • after countless times,
my combo is Tall, hazel, odd, kindness, sea, isolation, glittering jewel.

  5. What about: average, hazel, even, imagination, sea, heights, bound-up scroll

  6. I tryed that, sorry no it didnt work 😦 thx for your help though really appreciate it

  7. OMG I GOT IT! . . . on the side note i feel like a total idiot but i got it funny thing the answer was so simple the intire time too!

  8. Hey, I just found this page and thought you should know, I’ve completely cracked the wand quiz (like what answers change what things). Right now I know how to get any length, core, and flex, and I’m working on all the woods. I know how to get 31 out of the 38 woods (but not every wood has every flex). I can post my findings if you’re interested.

  9. I’m trying so hard to get an aspen wand, the core doesn’t bother me but phoenix feather would be nice. Any idea how to get it?

  10. I can help with getting Silver Lime. It seems my personality really agrees with it cause no matter how I try to change my answer I still get Silver Lime.
Here is my original wand: Silver Lime, Unicorn Hair, 10″, Quite Flexible. – Dark Brown/Black, Odd, Kindness, Sea, Isolation, Scroll.

  11. vine, unicorn, ten inches, hard- green, odd, kindness, sea, heights, scroll

  12. does anyone know how to get a blackthorn wand?

  13. dogwood, dragon, 12 3/4, supple- short, green, odd, resilience, sea, heights, dagger

  14. While these cheats are harmless enough, it does kind of make your wand a little less personal. Its kind of like choosing certain answers during the sorting that you’d think a Slytherin would choose just because you want to be in Slytherin rather then in the house that you really belong to.

    • I totally get this and I understand where you’re coming from. I definitely think that people should make a pottermore account for their true selves, where they answer honestly and see which house and wand they would really get. But if they’re like me, I have my true pottermore account and a second one with a username that I got after several tries and the house and wand that I really wanted, Ravenclaw and cherry with unicorn. These cheats are mostly to help people like me who already know which wand they would really get but would like to have a different one anyway. And as far as houses go, just remember that the sorting hat takes your choice into account. If it didn’t, Harry would be in Slytherin and then where would our story be?

      • That’s fair enough. I do that as well, I have my proper first account where I got into Slytherin and my wand is vine, unicorn core 13 1/4 inches, and then I have another account which I just try out different answer combinations at Ollivanders and during the sorting just for the fun of it and because I’m really curious, and then I delete the account and create a new one. I’m sorry if I jumped to conclusions regarding yours and everyone else’s intentions. I just assumed that you guys weren’t true Potter fans lol.

      • Yeah I totally understand! I probably would have thought the same thing.

    • I thought that too. It would be cool to have the exact wand you wanted though. I love my wand and house anyway though. My wand is Pear, 10 3/4″, Phoenix Feather core, surprisingly swishy. And I’m in ravenclaw

  15. Have you found a combination for Cherry and Phoenix Feather, (in the range of twelve inches) – Surprisingly Swishy? I figured out how to get the first two characteristics, but it’s 11 3/4 in., quite flexible.
The answers for that combination are:
    Average
    Hazel Eyes
    Odd
    Kindness
    Left towards the Sea
    Darkness
    Glittering Jewel

I’ve tried altering that combination a few times by a small margin, but the only things that ever change are the wood and core.

  16. How do you get an ebony and phoenix feather wand, 13″, and unbending?

    • Average
      dark brown
      even
      determination
can’t remember, either to the sea or forest
      isolation
      dagger

  17. Or an elder and phoenix wand, 13″, unyielding.

    • I can’t guarantee the the length but Ebony and Phoenix Feather – Unbending is:

      Brown/Black

      Even

      Determination

      Ahead toward the forest

      Darkness

      Jewel or Key

I think the key will get you a longer wand if you click “Tall for your age”.

Hope that works. Let me know your outcome.

    • Blue
      Even/Odd doesn’t matter
      Intelligence
      Towards the castle
      Isolation
      Dagger

  18. Anyone know how to get yew and phoenix feather?

  19. How do you get Hermione’s wand, and by that I mean vine and dragon heartstring, but i might just want the heartstring to be phoenix. If any of you guys know, please reply. Thanks so much:)

    • Is there any specific flexibility you want? The options are Reasonably Springy, Unbending, Slightly Springy, surprisingly swishy, supple, rigid, hard, unyielding, brittle, quite bendy, pliant, solid, quite flexible or slightly yielding.

    • green, even, intelligence, sea, fire, dagger 🙂

  20. how do i get a chestnut wand?

  21. I know how to get a Fir, Dragon, 13 inches, Rigid wand

  22. well, I really appreciated the works that FeatherMoon did because I am trying to figure the patterns out as well. I would like to share something which I found interesting. First, the birthday you submitted doesn’t effect the wand quiz result. I tested it for sure. Second, thanks FeatherMoon again for the extra information. Now I got enough data to prove some confirmed relationships between different questions and wand features.
    your height – wand length
    eye color – wand wood
most pride of – wand wood
    magical artifacts – wand core
but i still need more data to finish the form ; ) Could anybody like us share their information too? Thanks lol

    My experiences:

Hazel with Dragon Core, Twelve and three quarter inches, hard

    Short for your age
    Dark Brown/Black
    An odd number
    Intelligence
    Ahead towards the forest
    Fire
    The Silver Dagger

Hazel with Dragon Core, thirteen inches, hard

    tall for your age
    Dark Brown/Black
    An odd number
    Intelligence
    Ahead towards the forest
    Fire
    The Silver Dagger

blackthorn with Dragon Core, thirteen inches, hard

    tall for your age
    hazel
    An odd number
    Intelligence
    Ahead towards the forest
    Fire
    The Silver Dagger

BLACK WALNUT WITH PHOENIX FEATHER CORE, ELEVEN AND THREE QUARTER INCHES, HARD

    Average height for your age
    Dark Brown/Black
    An odd number
    Intelligence
    Right towards the castle
    Darkness
    The Glittering Jewel

VINE WITH PHOENIX FEATHER CORE, ELEVEN AND THREE QUARTER INCHES, QUITE FLEXIBLE

    Average height for your age
    Dark Brown/Black
    An odd number
    Kindness
    Right towards the castle
    Darkness
    The Glittering Jewel

    • These are the things that I’ve found affect different elements of your wand.

      Wand Length – Height, Artifact
      Wand Core – Fear, Artifact
Wand Flexibility and Wood – This is more complicated. For each thing that you pride yourself on, there are two options for flex. These are determined by whether your birthday is on an odd or even day. Wand wood is determined by the direction you choose and eye color, but the combinations change depending on how flexible your wand is.

I hope that made sense. 🙂 I did do all of these calculations over 6 months ago, but I just tested, and the combination I figured out for the wand I wanted is still correct.

      • I totally agree what you said above.
The wand core depends on fear and artifact.
The wand wood depends on the combination of eye color, direction you chose, and things of which you pride.
        Those are my list:

Alder (Blue, Intelligence, Ahead towards the forest)
Apple (Green, Imagination, Ahead towards the forest)
Black Walnut (Dark Brown/Black, Intelligence, Ahead towards the castle)
Blackthorn (Hazel, Intelligence, Ahead towards the forest)
Cypress (Blue/Green, Determination, Ahead towards the forest)
Dogwood (Brown, Intelligence, Ahead towards the forest)
Ebony (Dark Brown/Black, Determination, Ahead towards the forest)
Hazel (Dark Brown/Black, Intelligence, Ahead towards the forest)
Vine (Dark Brown/Black, Kindness, Ahead towards the castle)

        Dragon (Fire, The silver dagger)
        Unicorn (Fire, The dusty bottle)
        (Fire, The ornate mirror)
        (Fire, The golden key)
        (Fire, The glittering jewel)
        (Height, The bound-up scroll)
        Phoenix (Darkness, The glittering jewel)

Please tell me if there are mistakes
hope pottermore won’t make any change in the future

  23. I think you’re missing a few options from your list. I got “Ash (or “ashwood”) with Unicorn Core; 14 inches, very flexible”…

  24. How can you get a chestnut phoenix core wand? Length and flexibility dent matter

    • Chesnut, Phoenix Core, Surprisingly Swishy, 12 1/2 in – Average, Other, Even, Imagination, Left, Darkness, Dagger.

I tested it, so it should work correctly. If you want Slightly Springy instead, switch your birthday to Odd.

  25. CloakGhost, I think I can help you fulfill your data plan. Let’s see.. um, your birthday, that is for the tree of the woods. Each month represent a few of the woods, but I might be wrong…. Hope it helped.

    • That’s a really interesting theory! Thank you for sharing it!

    • thank you so much Thomas.
but i had heard of that theory and tested it to be false.
i had registered two account with different birthday months, then i selected identical selections in Ollivanders, and i got the same wand twice
so this proved that the information you gave pottermore doesn’t effect the wand test result

  26. FeatherMoon, I hope you don’t mind me asking, but can you help me with a vine wood and dragonheartsting? I’ve got the heartsting done, but not the wood. Thanks

  27. Any is fine

  28. […] a while except to moderate comments. I just wanted to let you all know that I just added some new WAND COMBINATIONS and am in the process of adding even […]

  29. Wait…SnitchWizard, you were applying to me right? (I said awkwardly)

  30. Just added new wand combos! x

  31. Thank you FeatherMoon! Oh and if you need any support with more combinations to get a certain wand, I will be honored to help.

  32. I wonder what combination to choose if I want a Cedar, phoenix core, twelve and three quarters, medium/quite flexible?
    Thanks in advance! 🙂

  33. And that was supposed to be “reasonably supple”, I’m so sorry about that.

  34. Ellie, I think this will make you happy:

Cedar, Phoenix, 12 and 3/4, somewhat flexible:

    Tall
    Dark brown/black
    Even
    Resilience
    Right inward the castle
    Isolation
    The glittering jewel

  35. Sorry i couldn’t figure out the flexibility so i hop somewhat flexible is alright.

  36. Any chance somebody could help me get an
    ash/ebony
    pheonix feather
rigid/hard/unbending that’s somewhere in the 12 inch part? Thanks in advance.

  37. For a rigid ebony wand, Pride yourself on resilience. You’ll want to either select hazel eyes and go to the forest, or click on the “other” eye color and choose the path that leads to the castle.

For an Unbending Ash Wand Pride yourself on determination, choose Grey eyes and go to the castle.

For the core and length, choose click on the fear of isolation, then choose the silver dagger in the trunk.

    Good luck

  38. Thank you so much for your help Anastasia! I really appreciate it!

  39. hi, could you find out how to get a maple wand with pheonix feather core??

  40. Does anyone know how to get Beech? Has anyone even gotten beech, ever? I have looked over wand woods and I think that one suits me. On Pottermore, I got Cypress, but I don’t consider myself to be brave or self-sacrificing at all (I’m practically the opposite), so it’s not always accurate.

  41. What is the combinations for the elder wood?

  42. Anyone know how to get Voldemort’s wand?

  43. I have the elder wand with a phoenix core!!!!!AND IM IN GRYFFINDOR!!!!!!!

  44. does anyone have any idea how to get a yew wand with phoenix feather unyielding 14 inches ?

  45. Hazel with dragon core, 13 inches, hard
    Tall
    Dark Brown/Black
    Odd
    Forest
    Intelligence
    Darkness
    Silver Dagger

    Hope this helps! 🙂

  46. How to get Holly, Phoenix feather, 11 inches, supple (Harry Potter’s wand) on Potermore:
    .Short for your age
    .Green eyes
    .An odd number
    .Resilience
    .Ahead towards the forest
    . Small spaces
    . Golden key

Then also on my actual account (I deleted the other one because I was in Gryffindor and I have always liked Hufflepuff)
How to get Holly Phoenix feather, 13 inches, Slightly springy:
    .Tall for your age
    .Blue eyes
    .An odd number
    .Imagination
    .Ahead towards the forest
    .Darkness
    .The golden key

Now if you have the wood and core you want but you need a different flexibility and length, look at what changed from Harry Potter’s wand to mine and work out how to get the length and flexibility you want and change those answers 🙂
    P.S. My Pottermore username is: HeartLumos968 🙂

  47. i think what the quiz is designed to do, is match up your personality with a character from the book and then give you a wand that is similar to theirs. this is because the site is at least partly a marketing ploy, and now you’ll be encouraged to buy a replica wand of that character. example: my wand is very similar to draco malfoy’s.

    hawthorne, unicorn, 10 3/4″, unyielding

    * short
    * blue-grey
    * even
    * left to the sea
    * intelligence
    * heights
    * rolled up parchment

  48. How to get ebony, supple, wand?

    • For a Supple Ebony wand choose odd for the day you were born. Then, pride yourself on resilience. Select Hazel eyes and go to the forest OR choose the ‘other’ eye color and go to the castle.

      Good luck.

  49. How to aquire an english oak with phoenix feather?

  50. How do you get maple and phoenix feather?
    I don’t mind the others

  51. How to get elder wood with phoenix feather ?

    • Elder is extremely rare, so it’s only available in two flexibilities: Hard (odd), and unyielding (even), So pride yourself on intelligence.
Now, before i can tell you what to do for the phoenix core, I need to know whether you wand a long wand (13 – 14 1/2 in.) an average wand (11 1/4-12 3/4 in.) or a short wand (9-11).

  52. Ebony with unicorn, 11 3/4, supple.
Thank you so much for your help onyx owl!! 🙂

  53. How can I get a wand with 12 and 3/4 inches,Vine and Phoenix Feather,Slightly Springy?? (Btw, I think that Vine suits me better)

  54. how can i get a cedar wand w/ dragon core that is rigid and somewhere around 10 3/4 in?

  55. does anyone know how to get a cherry phoenix wand?

  56. for a wand with phoenix core, you need:
    tall
    (anything)
    odd
resilience (optimism or determination are also possible but ~~)
    forest (castle is possible)
darkness (isolation and small spaces are possible)
    key

  57. One correction for Cherry and dragon core: to get the dragon core you have to choose the dagger from the chest, not the glittering jewel 🙂 Glittering jewel will get you unicorn 🙂

Thank you so much for doing this!!! You have no IDEA how many accounts I made trying to get Cherry wood before I found this excellent page! ❤

  58. So here’s the thing:
I’ve begun hand-carving a wand out of a spruce branch for my girlfriends birthday. I’m making it true to the specifications of her Pottermore wand and have, as of now, cut it to size, finished stripping the bark and pre-carving the shaft and have put it aside to dry. However, she got sorted into Slytherin and she was gutted about it. Consequently, she immediately lost interest until she found out about the sorting mechanism, and how and why you don’t necessarily get sorted into the house you most identify with. So now she wants to delete het account and start over.

    See the problem yet?

I need to make sure she gets the exact same wand when she makes her new account or else I’ll have to start all over again, and of course she can’t know why this is so very important. I wouldn’t want her to get suspicious when I make too big a point about it.

I ask for anyone who can figure this out to tell me what answers she’ll have to give.

    Her wand specifications are:
    Length: 12 1/4 inch
    Wood: Spruce
    Core: Unicorn
    Flexibility: Quite Bendy

  59. That’s so sweet, she is one lucky girl. She needs to put her height as average, best trait as originality, artefact as key, birth date as even number, eye colour as green, crossroad choice as the castle and greatest fear as either heights or fire. Hope this helped.

  60. How do you get a silver lime wand with dragon heartstring, preferably 14 inches?

  61. I would really like to know how to get a yew wand. I’ve tried many methods but none see to work. Could someone please help me?

  62. Mine:
11″ vine and phoenix feather, hard.

    Short
    Blue/Green
    Odd number
    Intelligence
    Castle
    Small spaces
    Bound up scroll

  63. How do I get Elder with Phoenix Feather core? Other specifications don’t matter.

  64. does anyone–at all–know how to get a yew wand?

  65. How do I get Beech, phoenix feather core, 11 3/4, and either unbending, rigid, brittle, hard, solid or unyeilding. I got quite bendy. I’ve gotten everything I want but flexibility, please help! My answers for that are;
    Average Height
    Brown Eyes
    Even number
    Originality
    Darkness
    Right towards the castle
    The Glittering Jewel

  66. How do you get Willow, Unicorn Core

  67. i dont know if you can get willow

  68. could you please do acacia and phoenix?

  69. Look at this page for certain combinations and tricks to getting the exact wand that you want https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0AiUkKupdksjddEZSOGZsM0ZUT2dLUHdwbzd5dTVqbGc&hl=en_US#gid=

  70. This is really great! I’ve also been trying to crack the wand quizz on Pottermore. I had come to conclusions similar to yours.

Here some of the combinations I’ve found :

    * Larch, phoenix feather, rigid (I’m sorry I can’t put the length since my pottermore account are not in English and uses centimeters instead of inches).
Average ; dark brown ; even ; determination ; sea ; small spaces ; jewel

    * Elder, dragon, hard
    tall ; blue ; odd ; intelligence ; castle ; fire ; dagger

    * Elder, unicorn, hard
same as above with small spaces and glove

    * Beech, unicorn, unyielding
    average ; dark brown ; even ; determination ; sea ; fire ; jewel

(If you look close to this combination and the larch wand, you can see that the wand wood can also be affected by your fear).

I’ve got quite a few other. I might come back to put them up later.

Anyway, nice website ;). I’m a ravenclaw too, by the way.

  71. My wand is: 10 3/4 in, Pear wood, phoenix feather core, Surprisingly Swishy.

To get that you need to put:

    -Average Hight

    -Blue\Gray eyes

    -Even Number

    -Imagination

    -Ahead toward the forest

    -Small spaces

    -The Bound up scroll

    Hope this was helpful! 🙂

    • Also, how do you get a 14in, willow, dragon heartstring, solid. If anyone knows that would really help a lot. Thanks.

  72. How can I get a Reed and Unicorn?
